ChopShop, one of my favorite tee stores, has teamed up with WellDone in an effort to raise awareness and funds in order to provide clean water to those in need throughout the developing world. Water By Numbers shirt, in the tradition of ChopShop's "trivia" designs, features images of 27 striking water statistics highlighting the various aspects of the global water crisis. Did you know, for example, that it only takes $8,000 to build a well for a community of around 2,000 people, or that 4,000 children die each day from unclean water and inadequate sanitation? We're so used to the idea of easy access to clean water that we often forget that "water issues cause the most calamity in the form of disease, time consumption and even in some cases actually cause wars over water rights." The shirt costs $20 (plus s&h) and comes on AA asphalt or alstyle charcoal, and obviously, all the proceeds will be donated to WellDone. Those of you that don't understand the meaning of each image, which is a totally normal reaction (I didn't either), will be happy to hear that the key to the numbered icons are printed on the inside back of the tee below the label! This way you can read them, wear the shirt, and be the smart ass at your next get-together...
