What is it about zombies that makes them irresistible? Could it be that they're in a limbo between the living and the dead or the idea that they too used to be alive or the fact that you cannot kill them? Maybe we're intrigued by the idea that we can become zombie too. In any case, zombies and all sorts of undead creatures have been for many years a favorite theme. When it comes to t-shirts though, the last few months there has been an unprecedented trend, more like a zombie attack I would say. I realized that I alone have written about numerous new brands that feature zombie designs, not to mention individual shirts here and there. From Seibei, Electric Zombie and Zombie Liquorice to Stereo Bear, Slugabed and Godmachine's Art (to mention a few), we find an abundance of shirts with huge prints, electric colors, and creepy compositions where undead creatures come out to get you and ordinary things like, donuts, flowers, and gumball machines are transformed to deadly machines. To this list of brands I should add two more brands that came to my attention lately (and to whom I probably owe a separate review), Redemption Clothing and Hands On Clothing. To be clear, I don't see me wearing some of these shirts, mainly because I'm a (ahem ahem) 32-year-old woman, but nevertheless I own a few and I value the effort and the work put to these designs and visually I think are great. So I'm asking, "are zombies the new skulls?" Well, that's left to be seen...
